The Upton Interpretation Centre

The Upton Interpretation Centre forms a Community focus point with the Prince’s Foundation, Sustainable Urban Development on the edge of Northampton.

The inventive design creates two main halls to provide a range of flexible uses, linked by a central entrance foyer that also doubles as a café for members of the local community.

The building also includes office, meeting room, toilets, stores and six changing rooms (with dedicated showers/toilets) on the lower ground floor.

The building has been designed and achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, which was the highest available for low energy performance and sustainability credentials at the time.

The materials employed demonstrate the high quality finish required, including green oak cladding, local ironstone walls and large rooflights and full height glazed window/door panels.
