Silverstone Primary School

The project was for the creation of a new 420 place Primary school in a village setting, to meet increasing demand within the growing village. We were involved since the outset of the project, exploring alternative sites, strategic appraisals and feasibility studies, through detailed design to completion.

We designed the building to offer future flexibility, with the ability for all key areas to be extended.

The proposals include the use of structurally insulated panel system (SIPs) to provide excellent thermal integrity and air-tightness which, when combined with other passive sustainable technologies, will provide very low running and maintenance costs.

A palette of natural materials was selected in conjunction with a low, linear building form to soften the relationship with the rural landscape, with splashes of primary colours to balance against the muted tones of larch cladding and local limestone walling.

‘Architect of the Year’ Highly Commended by the OffSite awards.
