National Institute of Agricultural Botany

We were appointed by SDC to undertake construction phase delivery of highly serviced offices, laboratories and seed treatment and storage.

NIAB (National Institute of Agricultural Botany) supports research targeted at the genetic improvement of crop species.

The facility was conceived as two black barns to integrate into the rural context. Whilst we retained the Planning approved external form, we had to redesign the interiors to accommodate changing occupier requirements.

Barn 1 featured perimeter laboratories with good daylight for examination of seeds, with a central strip of temperature controlled seed storage rooms.
