Henry Gotch Primary School

A new staffroom facility, reception and link between an existing Infant and Junior school, combined to create a new Primary.

The staff facilities include a multi-purpose social/ training space, meeting rooms and private studies. These areas are contained within a brass clad pavilion, which overlooks a courtyard and sits centrally on a linking gallery, connecting two existing entrances. The link is widened to provide a series of gathering and display spaces, providing more than simple circulation.

Rainbow carpet strips and lighting design articulate the passage through the building. To the road frontage are arranged reception and office areas. This administrative block is curved in plan and section extending out organically from the link and pavilion. The front block is clad in imperial sized, English garden wall brick, matching a plinth to both existing buildings. Brass cladding reappears at 3 entrances along the front elevation. The building is constructed in timber frame, with cellulose insulation.
