GE Production and R&D Facility, Redhill

Two bespoke buildings totalling 382,000ft² R&D and production facility for GE who required a new UK headquarters for their business.

GE are at the forefront of Energy Connections and infrastructure throughout the world and aspired to create a new state of the art facility to grow their business within the UK, while attracting a highly skilled employees from all over the world.

The facility provides many different functions, including R&D laboratories, production, storage, training facilities, restaurant, product showcase and offices.

The buildings’ designs are simple in form, which enables adaption to future requirements as the business grows and adjusts to new technologies developed within the buildings. The main production spaces are full height and are flooded with natural light. Mezzanine structures are set over the majority of the remaining facility maximising the usable space within the volume of the building, while connecting R&D facilities with production areas below.

pHp Architects were also appointed as interior designers to create an engaging and stimulating environment for staff and visitors that visually connects all parts of the business to further reinforce GE’s aspirations and achievements in the energy sector.​
