Moulton Primary School

Client: Northamptonshire County Council

Construction starts in 2016

This project involved the extension and refurbishment to expand the existing primary school from 2 to 3 form entry.

The existing school is made up of a series of extensions constructed over a period of 50yrs, with no discernible architectural style carried through. As such the proposed 3-storey extension block, with a palette of smooth brick, white render and grey rainscreen cladding, is intended to be a modern response, appropriate for a forward-looking 21st century school, whilst also having visual ties to the existing. The existing site constraints played a key role in design development, in particular addressing the split level sloping site and also locating the extension so as not to have a detrimental impact on areas of playground and sports field.
